My fascination with the body as the abode of spirit and as an instrument and reflection of the mind has defined my exploration in the healing and creative arts, mindfulness, meditation and yoga. I have been practicing bodywork since 2005 when I completed the Holistic Health/Massage Certification Program at the University of California Santa Cruz, where I got a BA in Linguistics and South Asian Studies. My yoga practice for the past 13 years also informs my work, and therapeutic yoga principles of alignment are often incorporated into my sessions with clients. I have also learned much from my father who is a gifted massage therapist; from my own breakthroughs in dealing with chronic debilitating pain, and from every healing bodywork session I have ever received.
I am certified by the California Massage Therapy Council (CMTC), the Kate Jordan Seminars: Bodywork for the Childbearing Year, and I am a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
My interest in working with mothers began with a desire to offer relief, comfort and healing care during the challenging and beautiful process of becoming one. Through my continued work, ongoing workshops, private mentorships and self-study, I strive to deepen my expertise and knowledge, passing this growth on to my clients.
The experience of giving and receiving bodywork is, in my eyes, not only therapeutic but a way of celebrating and enhancing the gift of embodiment. In my massage therapy practice in Oakland and Berkley, I aspire to continue this celebration, as well as thorough everything I do.
“Our hands imbibe like roots
So I place them on what is beautiful in this world,
And I fold them in prayer
And they draw from the heavens light.”
~St. Francis of Assisi
